MLK Boulevard: coming soon

Beginning tonight, street signs will gradually change from "Airport Rd." to "Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd./Historic Airport Road." The change should be complete by Sunday, May 8, in time for the dedication ceremony. The ceremony will start at 2:30 at Town Hall with music and a brief bit of speech-making, followed by a "people's march" to the Hargrave Center for good food and great music by Liquid Pleasure. Join us! (Bring your mother.)

This Wednesday at noon, a related event in front of the old Post Office: from noon to 1 p.m., "Reading the Words of Dr. King." A read-in. Everyone is invited to come and listen or read a favorite passage. Thanks to Joe Herzenberg for organizing this part of the celebration.
